If you need a speciality material, then the visit may involve two appointments. During the first visit, your dentist will prepare the affected tooth by removing any decayed or weakened portions and shaping it to fit the crown. A scanner is used to capture a 3D model of your tooth, and the scan is sent either to our in-house lab or another trusted lab to create a custom crown. While you wait, we will place a temporary crown to protect the tooth if the tooth does not receive a same-day CEREC crown.
At your second visit, the permanent crown is carefully bonded to your tooth using a strong dental adhesive. Your dentist will ensure the fit is perfect and make any final adjustments to provide optimal comfort and functionality.
